DL_What ways open in this crisis of classifications? 9/9
Eric Laurent, from his field of research, psychoanalysis, proposes three ways. The first has to do with the critical stance that should be taken at the tendency of the current psychopathology find the perfect rating, warning about the effects of neglect of the subject because of this exhaustive list of descriptive psychopathology. The second way has to do with the categories "off - label" generated by these same classifications. For much description, for a lot of control there are gaps that make incomplete the system.
Psychoanalysis should not therefore contribute to a re-enactment of the clinic under a new classification system but to see how the rankings are effecting on people, how they live such as labels and give them meaning in their personal history.
Finally, the third party route is to remember that many systematic classification of mental illness categorize the exception, which does not fit into the preconceived system, which is the uniqueness of the person always comes up. Frances Allen wants to save normal, we are mentally ill? He asks in his book.
Actually, not so different from what psychoanalysis proposes it is to say that everyone is a little sick, decentred, outdated and eccentric. We must use this crisis because it leaves opportunities to find a new path that can challenge the universal protocols. Are there any mental illnesses? Is it a disease entity?. Is it not rather the mentality that is flawed?
